A six-year-old Emirati boy was found dead after being electrocuted by an electric fuse box on Saturday afternoon.
The six-year-old, Salem Ali Al Shehhi, was playing around his home in Seih area of Ras Al Khaimah, and then decided to go into a room with the electrical fuse box. The victim’s mother soon noticed that her child is missing. After a long search, the mother found his dead body in the electrical room.
Salem Al Marri, a relative of the child, said that two years ago they asked to change the place of the transformer and put it away from the street and the houses, pointing out that the wall of the electrical room is open and accessible from both sides.
Mr. Mohammed Saleh, Director General of the Federal Authority for Electricity and Water, expressed his regret regarding the incident and the child’s death. He stressed that the authorities will investigate the incident and its causes to proceed with regulatory measures towards who’s accountable.
