Abu Dhabi Police arrested a young Arab who has been stealing from grocery shops in residential neighborhoods, using a disguised luxury car, to make himself unidentifiable.
The accused would ask vendors at the grocery store to come to his car without getting off his vehicle, then asks for a Dhs.100 phone card and the change of a Dhs.1000, and when he takes them, he disappears out of sight, almost running over the vendor.
Upon investigation, the accused confessed to having committed a number of similar crimes, using the same method of theft, where he was arrested and referred to prosecution.
Lt. Col. Mohammed Abdullah Al Hassani, Director of Al Rahba Police Station, stated that Abu Dhabi Police follows an integrated strategy to combat such crimes, regardless of the different methods invented by criminals.
In turn, he called on all vendors in the shops to pay attention to such crime, and to hand over the required goods only after receiving their price.
