A young Arab woman, “Mona”, did not expect to end up in a wheelchair following a tragic traffic accident. Not only was her health effected, but she was no longer able to function in the private company she co-owned and managed with a partner, and was forced to break the partnership. A year later, she was informed that there’s legal cases in her name regarding cheques exceeding 500,000 Dhs. issued on her behalf by the company.
After consultation with the UAE lawyer and legal adviser Hassan Al Marzouqi, it was later revealed that when Mona broke her partnership, she did not go to the bank to clear her responsibility of the company’s cheques.
Al Marzouqi explained that the bank has been approached to determine the validity of these cheques, in addition to seeking to end the criminal cases against the defendant filed by the owners of these cheques who resorted to the court seeking their right.
Confirming that the deceptive partner took advantage of the woman’s failure to clear her responsibilities towards the company from the bank, and kept issuing cheques on her behalf.
