Dubai Police arrests expat accused of killing his girlfriend

Dubai Police arrested a Lebanese expat, who is accused of killing his girlfriend, by punching on her face in her flat in Dubai Marina. The suspect was arrested only 18 hours after the murder was reported to the police.

According to interrogations, the defendant was drunk at the time of the incident and had punched her without the intention to kill her.

Lt. Col. Faisal Al Qasim, director of security media, stated that the incident took place on Wednesday. The suspect, who resided in another emirate, had come to Dubai to spend the weekend at his girlfriend’s apartment. “While there, an argument broke out between them. The defendant punched her, breaking her nose and causing internal bleeding, which led to her death.”

After realising she had died, the suspect cleaned up the crime scene and returned to his apartment.

The victim was found by one of her colleagues who went to check up on her when she was absent from work. Lt. Col. Al Qasim said that the suspect voluntarily confessed to the crime when the police confronted him.
