Abu Dhabi: Drug overdose drives a young man to attempted murder

A young man’s abuse of a large amount of narcotics caused him to become delusional and unaware of his surroundings. It also made him think that he had a conflict with a customer of a coffee shop in Abu Dhabi and began to attack that person with a knife trying to kill him without any reason.
The case was considered by the Abu Dhabi Criminal Court at its session yesterday, where the victim’s attorney, Hadeya Hammad, stated that her client had been subjected to an attempt of murder.

In details, the victim accompanied a number of his friends to a cafe for hot drinks. The defendant came up to him and asked him to come outside to talk, adding that the victim had never met with the defendant and that there is no previous link or friendship.

When the victim went outside with him, the defendant took out a knife he had hidden in his pocket and tried stabbing the victimt in the chest and hand. However, the victim managed to escape after fleeing to the parking lots and hiding among them.
The defendant’s attempt to kill the victim did not succeed, and he returned to a car and went home. Upon his arrival, he was surprised by the police and was arrested.

The preliminary examination revealed that he was in an abnormal condition, to be referred to the criminal laboratory. He had consumed a large quantity of drugs, which influenced the functions of his brain and his perception, leading him to semi-madness, whichc is difficult to control.
