Sharjah: Iftar meal causes second degree burns to two-year-old Emirati girl, and maid

An Emirati two-year-old girl, from Dibba Al-Hosn area of Sharjah, was exposed to second degree burns while she was in the kitchen while the maid was preparing the Iftar meal. The maid also suffered burns due to the incident.
The child was rushed by air ambulance to Khalifa Hospital in Abu Dhabi after the child’s image went viral on social media sites. She was severely burned in the abdomen, back and extremities.
Obaid Al Khadim, director of Dibba al-Fujairah hospital, said that during the afternoon, Dibba Al Fujairah hospital received the two-year-old girl and the maid, who is of African nationality, both suffering burns in parts of the body. Medical care was provided to them quickly, although the hospital does not have a burns unit, Where the medical team rushed providing treatment creams to the burns, and giving them antibiotics and IV fluids to replace lost fluids in the body.
Al Khadim pointed out that according to the medical report, the child was exposed to burns of 45%, which included various parts of her body from the neck, face, back, abdomen, and extremities, while the burn rate in the maid was 30% The girl was then transferred by air to Khalifa Hospital in Abu Dhabi. The maid will also be transferred to Mafraq Hospital for specialized treatment for burns.
The father of the child, Obeid Al Mughni, thanked the Abu Dhabi Health Authority for their rapid response and communication, pointing out that the UAE has always been keen to provide health services at all times and anywhere, without any delays, and the patient is always the number one priority.
