Dubai: Five men commit Dh310,000 robbery pretending to be cops

Dubai court is keeping a man in detention after he and other fugitives allegedly robbed Dh165,000 at knifepoint, and Dh150,000 worth of new mobile phones from an electronics trading company.

According to the public prosecution records of the case that dates back to 2015, the 22-year-old Pakistani man, who is currently in detention, denied the charges after  entering into the company with his accomplices, posing as officers from the criminal investigation department.

The 42-year-old Indian victim, an owner of the electronics trading company, stated that he was alone at his office when five men stormed inside. One of whom took out a knife and placed it on his neck, threatening to kill him if he screamed for help. The thieves then tied him up, tore his shirt and used it to gag and blindfold him. After they fled the place, the victim crawled to the door while trying to untie his hands, when an Indian man helped him.

Court ruling is scheduled for May 27.
