Government employee accused of embezzling Dh400,000

An employee went on trial for abusing his post at a UAE ministry branch to embezzle funds from his workplace, a Dubai Court of First Instance heard.

Dubai Public Prosecution charged the administrative officer with using a colleague’s login to gain access to the ministry’s e-system to reprint the stickers with aim of reselling them and illegally obtain  Dh400,000.

He confessed the charge but claimed stickers he embezzled were worth just Dh20,000.
During the investigation, the defendant claimed he had some financial problems and needed extra money. He managed to obtain his colleague’s password at his desk without his knowledge.
