MoE bans the collection of fees for graduation ceremonies

The Ministry of Education has banned public and private schools from collecting any money for graduation ceremonies, and charging parents any financial cost in this regard.
In a recent announcement to the educational field, the ministry stressed the importance of observing the principles of educational behavior in graduation ceremonies. The timing of the graduation ceremony should be after Eid Al Fitr, and after the completion of study plans. The graduation ceremonies should not take place in any facility outside the school, prohibiting the imposition of any monetary allowance on the parents, and taking into account the choice of place to achieve the conditions of security and safety.
The provisions of the ceremony should also not contradict with the teachings of Islamic law, and shall emphasize the promotion of loyalty to the homeland, and there is no objection to provide the opportunity for the sponsors to participate in the ceremony according to regulations and after the approval of the relevant authorities in the ministry.
The ministry also called on school administrations to hold graduation parties in the school theater or any other facility of community institutions, so that it does not entail a cash allowance on the parents or a burden of increasing financial commitments, as schools have been demanding parents to pay cash for the participation of their children at the graduation ceremony, and the student who does not manage to pay the money, gets forbidden from participation in the ceremony.
At the same time, a number of teachers in some private schools complained that on special occasions such as mother’s day and holidays at the end of each school year, their school administrations collect money from all school staff, teachers and cleaners, to buy valuable gifts In the form of gold sets to the principals of the school in order to satisfy them, expressing dissatisfaction and indignation of what is happening which is a financial burden on them, especially as their salaries as a teaching staff and cleaners does not bear what is deducted from them.
