Dubai: Drunk man arrested for assaulting two policemen

A Khaleeji man was arrested for assaulting two policemen, after he was found sleeping between vehicles in a parking lot. He was arrested and referred to the Public Prosecution.

The Court of First Instance charged the accused with resisting and physically assaulting two police officers, committing an indecent act and consuming liquor without a license.

A policeman said he and a colleague were patrolling Al Rigga area when a security guard informed them that a man was sleeping in a way that is unsafe to him and others in the parking lot.

The policemen walked to the accused and tried to wake him up. One of the officers revealed the details of the incident, saying that the defendant opened his eyes and saw their uniform, did an indecent gesture with his finger, and then kicked a police officer on his right knee.

After the cop fell down, the accused tried to run away but he was caught by the other policeman, who stated that the man fought him back, bit him in the shoulder and punched his head. His colleague then grabbed him. The accused was then taken to Al Muraqqabat police station for the necessary procedure.

The security guard confirmed the statements of the policemen, who were assaulted, confirming in his testimony that the accused had beaten them and tried to escape.
