Dubai Maritime Unit, Civil Defense extinguish Boat Fire, No Injury

The Maritime Rescue Unit at the Dubai Ports Police Station, in cooperation with Directorate General of Civil Defense, has put out a fire broke out in a boat docked at Marina Umm Suqeim.

The fast response of the Unit has prevented the fire from engulfing the nearby boats and causing injury.

According to Lt Col Ali Abdullah Al Qaseeb Al Naqbi, Director of the Maritime Rescue at Dubai Police Marine, the officers rushed to the scene and immediately pulled the boat away from the docked boats in the Marina. “In cooperation with officers from the Directorate General of Civil Defense in Dubai, the fire was doused completely in no time,” Lt. Col. Al Naqbi added.

Director of the Maritime Rescue urged boats’ owners to ensure all safety equipment are available and useable as the summer approached and the rising temperatures. He also reminded the owners to download Dubai Police’s Sail Safely app which helps warnings users about any delays during the trip; identify hazards; send distress requests (SOS) directly to the Dubai Police; and facilitate rapid emergency response.
