Vendors to be fined AED100,000 for price manipulation

The Ministry of Economy warned vendors and selling outlets against manipulating product prices, especially school supplies and stationery, stating that violators would be fined between 50,000 and 100,000 Dhs. in case price manipulation was detected.

In a statement to reporters in Abu Dhabi, Dr. Hashim Al Nuaimi, Director of Consumer Protection Department, stated that more than 650 outlets in the country have committed to offering a 50% discount on school supplies and stationery in bookshops and other outlets. Al Nuaimi also denied receiving any complaints from consumers during the recent period.
