More vaccines will be available for children’s groups during the coming period

Dr. Farida Al Hosani, the spokesperson for the health sector:

• More than 81.93% of the total eligible group aged above 16 have been vaccinated, while 92.35% of the elderly group who are above 60 years have received the vaccine.

• It is expected that more vaccines will be available for children’s groups during the coming period, following the completion of clinical trials aimed at confirming its safety and assessing the acquisition of immunity.

• We have recently announced the approval of Sotrovimab-vir treatment for emergency use in the UAE, which relies on “monoclonal antibodies” to treat patients aged 12 years and above. It has proven its efficiency in treating minor to moderate infections, in addition to the mutated virus and emerging mutations.

• We confirm that Sotrovimab-vir is a treatment and not a substitute for the vaccine. As the vaccine is given to the community to prevent the infection and its complications.
