Highlights of the Cabinet meeting today in Abu Dhabi

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai:

• Today I chaired a cabinet meeting at Al-Watan Palace in Abu Dhabi that coincides with the commemoration Day and the UAE National Day. On this occasion, I congratulate my brothers, the President of the UAE and Mohamed bin Zayed, all the rulers of the Emirates and our loyal people.

• We approved the assignment of Sultan Al Jaber as a special envoy for the UAE in the field of climate change. He will represent the UAE in all foreign forums and international communications related to this vital file, which will be at the top of the international agenda.

• In the Cabinet session, we approved the establishment of a cybersecurity council in the country. It will issue policies and legislation to enhance cybersecurity and raise the readiness of all sectors to respond. The UAE’s cybersecurity today is of a no less importance than its geographical security.

• We have adopted a public policy for the environment in the UAE that priorities preserving the natural environment, air quality, the sustainability of agricultural and animal production, and the optimal management of waste and chemicals. The quality of the environment ensures the quality of life.

• We approved the formation of a national media team that includes all the media influencers in the country. They are required to provide their visions to us for Emirati media development… The growing strategic importance of the UAE regionally and internationally requires modern tools, innovative models, and distinctive thinking.

• In today’s session, we approved the new generation of Emirati passports and national identity cards. They will bear a new design, more safety, and new smart digital features, while the existing passports and cards will be replaced gradually.
