The two defendants in the case of the fabricated story are detained

Salem Al-Zaabi, Acting Head of the Emergency Crisis and Disaster Prosecution at the Federal Public Prosecution:

• After the fabricated story was published, the Public Prosecution Office immediately initiated investigations on the incident while in-depth investigations are still running, not only to determine the legal responsibility and its perpetrator, but also to determine all the facts behind this incident.

• The incident that was broadcasted on Abu Dhabi Sports Channel was made up by the first defendant, and there is no existence of the said family.

• The second defendant, who is the channel’s presenter, failed to maintain his professional duties, and did not verify the validity of the information from the competent authorities.

• The Public Prosecutor has ordered the preventive detention of both defendants pending investigation undertaken by Public Prosecution undertakes.
