During a news briefing, Abdul Rahman Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention:
• Today we announce, that we have passed more than 5 million COVID-19 tests.
• The recovery rate in the UAE have reached 90% which is among the highest in the world.
Dr. Omar Al-Hammadi, the official spokesperson of the news briefing:
• We urge the public not to follow any advertisements which exploits the fear and anxiety factor in order to market products claiming to enhance the immunity system and protection against “COVID-19”.
• Wearing masks reduces the chances of the virus transmission, as it prevents the exposure to the infected person saliva droplets during coughing, sneezing, or talking.
• We do not recommend wearing masks for people who have breathing issues or who are unable to remove the masks themselves without assistance.
• There is no scientific evidence to prove that “coronavirus” may transmit through swimming in sea water or swimming pools, yet swimmers must adhere to the precautionary measures and physical distance.
• The negative test result for a sample that was taken several days ago does not mean ignoring the safety measures and contact with others, as a negative result means that the person was uninfected at the time of the examination, and does not necessarily mean that it is still negative after days.
• Children under the age of two years, suffer breathing difficulty or cannot remove masks by themselves for any reason are not recommended to wear masks.
