Travel for leisure and tourism will not be allowed at the meantime

Dr. Saif Al-Dhaheri, the official spokesman of the “National Emergencies, Crises and Disaster Management Authority”:

• All countries are still evaluating the health conditions, and the UAE is closely following and evaluating the situation and procedures in cooperation with national carriers to determine the allowed destinations. Most of the country’s airspace are still closed.

• Every citizen and resident wishing to travel must submit an application through the website of the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship https://smartservices.ica.gov.ae

• Travel for leisure or tourism purposes will not be permitted at the meantime. Travel will only be allowed for specific purposes and categories identified earlier based on the level of risk and health status in other countries.

• The permitted travel purposes are studying, medical treatment, diplomatic missions and official business missions for government and private sector employees.

• People who suffer from chronic diseases are advised not to travel, while senior people who are older than 70 years are not permitted to travel, except for medical treatment.

• Businessmen in the commercial and economic sectors including citizens and residents will be allowed to travel, in addition to expats residing in the UAE who wish to travel to their home countries and return.

• If the UAE citizen traveler tested positive for the virus while outside the country, The UAE embassy in the respective country must be informed immediately.

• When returning from travel, a PCR test is required at the airport, and a 14-day home quarantine. 7 days home quarantine only for those returning from low-risk countries.

• In the event that the conditions for home quarantine are not met as mentioned in the approved protocol, traveler shall be subject to quarantine at the designated hotels at his/her own expense.

• The travel protocol conditions are applied at the country level, taking into account the general provisions, procedures and requirements announced by the local authorities.
