WATCH: A historic moment for Saudi Arabia as the first Saudi woman receives driving license

The General Directorate of Traffic in Saudi Arabia has begun replacing the international licenses approved in the Kingdom with Saudi licenses in preparation for the date of allowing women to drive, which is June 24, in several locations in the Kingdom’s cities.
After confirming the validity of the license offered through the Saudi Driving License Portal and evaluating the ability of those who want to replace it by conducting a practical test, the first group of women received the Saudi Driving License today and expressed their joy and pleasure to obtain the license.
This comes as part of a series of measures taken by the General Directorate of Traffic in Saudi Arabia in preparation for the implementation of the decision to allow women to drive.
A video went viral on social media showing “Ahlam Al Thanayan” as she receives her license, being the first woman to ever receive a driving license in the Kingdom.
