It was just a spell of beautiful football and a feat of heroism and manliness from a team whose name is synonymous with top-notch accolades.

When the Arabian Gulf League holders outlasted their Argentinian rivals with a historic penalty shootout win, it was not a mere football triumph-inspired joy that stunned football fans in general and sent Emirati crowds in particular over the moon, but it was rather a national pride for a country where sky is the only limit for ambitions! Drama, action, excitement and goals were all epitomized by the performance of Al Ain heroes who’ve so far lived up to and rather beaten the expectations of their fans at Abu Dhabi’s Zayed Sports City Stadium, where they’ve become the nation’s first team to qualify for the prestigious final following a world-class performance against three continental champions – Oceania’s Team Wellington, Africa’s Esperance and South America’s River Plate, a fact which only adds to the splendour of the much-anticipated final tomorrow against Real Madrid.

“This must be a great achievement for the UAE. This is the biggest result in the history of the country and Al Ain. I am proud to be part of this success. Last season, for the first time in our history we won the double (AGL and President’s Cup). Now we are through to the final of the Club World Cup. For everyone, when we talk about sport, this must have been the greatest thing that has happened,” said the champions’ manager Mamic following their historic and stunning victory against River Plate.

All Emirati football fans can’t wait to see their heroes taking on the European champions tomorrow; they are full of faith and trust that they will deliver a great final for their nation.
