The General Department of Punitive and\nCorrectional Institutions at Dubai Police arranged a heartwarming reunion\nbetween an inmate and his son after noticing that the inmate always drew\npictures of his son during the institution’s activities, reflecting his deep\nlonging for him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This touching moment was made possible\nthrough the ‘Inmate Happiness’ humanitarian initiative, which aimed to\nalleviate the suffering of inmates during their sentences. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The humanitarian gesture was carried out\nunder the guidance of His Excellency Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al\nMarri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, and the supervision of Major General\nKhalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Criminal\nInvestigation Affairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Brigadier Marwan Jalfar, the Director of\nthe General Department of Punitive and Correctional Institutions, said that\nupon learning that the inmate had a sole son residing in another country, the\ndepartment coordinated to arrange a meeting between the father and his son.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Brig. Jalfar, when the time\nof the visit, the department informed the inmate that he had a visitor. He was\ntaken aback because he had no one who would come to visit him. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
When he met his visitor, he was stunned\nto see his son. Overwhelmed by the surprise, he was unable to contain his\nemotions and burst into tears as he embraced his son. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The heartwarming reunion was an\nincredibly moving moment that touched everyone involved, leaving a lasting\nimpression,” Brig. Jalfar said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jalfar explained that when the inmate\narrived at the Punitive and Correctional Institutions, he did not have a\nspecific profession. However, thanks to the inmate education and training department\nthat has educational and vocational programmes, he learned how to draw along\nother handicrafts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“He often expressed his longing for\nhis son through drawing. He was well-liked by his fellow inmates for his kind\nand cooperative personality. Additionally, he is an active participant in\nvarious activities within the Punitive and Correctional Institutions”,\nJalfar continued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He emphasized the importance of\nactivating social and humanitarian aspects and overcoming communication\nbarriers between inmates and their families, in line with Dubai Police’s\nstrategic goal of promoting community happiness. He also highlighted the significance\nof Dubai Police’s humanitarian programmes and initiatives, particularly in the\nGeneral Department of Punitive and Correctional Institutions, due to their\npositive impact on strengthening the relationship and mutual trust between the\npolice and the community. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“These programmes promote values of\ntolerance and coexistence, and they directly contribute to alleviating the\nsuffering of both inmates and their families,” Jalfar added. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The inmate and his son expressed their\ngratitude to the Dubai Police General Command for the wonderful humanitarian\ninitiative and their deep concern for spreading happiness among inmates and\ntheir families. They mentioned that they had always dreamt of this visit, as\nprevious visits had been either remotely or through phone calls only. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
