The Ministry of Human Resources and\nEmiratisation (MoHRE) has announced the extension of the deadline for private\nsector employers to rectify unlimited-term employment contracts of their\nemployees to fixed-term contracts. The new deadline now is 31st December 2023,\ninstead of 2nd February 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe decision stems from our belief in enhancing flexibility,\ncompetitiveness and ease of business for private sector companies and safeguarding\nall parties\u2019 rights,\u201d the Ministry said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cProviding enough time for companies to change\nthe contracts supports labour market; our role is providing all the necessary\ntools for companies to succeed and flourish; ease of business is definitely an\nimportant approach that we adopt in the market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe private sector is a partner in the UAE\u2019s\ndevelopment journey, we value its contributions to the UAE\u2019s GDP. We have\nrecently witnessed the private sector\u2019s achievements in Emiratisation, which\nsignificantly helped to raise the overall rates of Emiratisation in the UAE.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This decision is based on the Ministry\u2019s\nResolution No. 27 of 2023 on the extension of the deadline for rectifying employment\ncontracts; it comes in implementation of the Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021 on\nthe Regulation of Labour Relations in the Private Sector. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Decree-Law included amendments to some of\nits provisions, including fixed-term employment contracts, subject to renewal, based\non what is agreed by both parties of the contractual relationship without\nspecifying a limit for the duration of the contract, in line with international\npractices.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
