The Dubai Police General Command urges public members\nto abide by traffic laws and regulations after a dreadful traffic accident left\none dead and another five injured on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road this\nmorning. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, Director of the\nGeneral of Traffic Department, indicated that failing to keep a safe distance\nis one of the significant causes of traffic accidents which always result in\nhuman or\/and material losses. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Since the beginning of the current year, the Department\nhas recorded 538 accidents due to tailgating violations, which caused the death\nof ten people and left 367 suffering from various injuries,” he confirmed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“This morning (Thursday, 27th of October), we deployed our\npatrols after receiving a report claiming that a major accident between two\nlorries and four light vehicles occurred on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road\nafter Al Rashidiya Bridge, where one driver passed away on the scene, and five\nothers sustained minor to moderate injuries,” Maj. Gen. Al Mazrouei\nelaborated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The accident happened when the traffic was obstructed by a\nminor accident between a lorry and several light vehicles. However, as the\ndrivers failed to maintain a safe distance for the lorry coming from the back,\nit crashed into a bus upfront, kept driving and collided into another lorry\nloaded with cement and bricks, which caused congestion across roads,” he\nexplained. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Director of the General of the Traffic Department\npointed out that the penalty for tailgating is an AED 400 fine and four traffic\nblack points. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
