The Dubai Police General\nCommand warned the public against seeking services from unlicensed massage\ncentres, which pose serious threats to whoever seeks their services, including\nfalling victim to extortionists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Brigadier Abdullah Khadem\nSuroor Al Maasem, Director of the Bur Dubai Police Station and Chairman of the\nBoard of Directors of Police Stations, confirmed that Dubai Police has launched\nseveral campaigns to combat this illegal activity by raising public awareness\nof the centres’ harmful services, tracking down locations and operators of such\nunlicensed businesses, as well as arresting distributors of massage cards on\nvehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Cracking Down on Illegal\nActivities <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Brig. Al Maasem said Dubai\nPolice’s efforts over the last year until the first quarter of the current year\nhave resulted in disconnecting services of 919 phone numbers found on these\ncards, seizing 5,900,000 massage cards, arresting 879 violators, of which 588\nwere charged for violating public morals and 309 for printing and distributing\nmassage cards. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Criminal Scheme<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n “Being a front for\nillegal and criminal activities, unlicensed massage centres deceive victims through\nfake social media accounts. Once the victim arrives, they found themselves surrounded\nby a group of African Nationals who drag them to an apartment and tie them up\nto take indecent pictures of them for blackmail,\u201d Brig. Al Maasem revealed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Raising Awareness <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The Bur Dubai Police Station\ndirector explained that this year, they distributed 600 awareness brochures to\nreal estate companies and have sent (SMS) messages. He noted that their\nawareness campaign has benefited 8007 companies and reached 53,816 of their\nemployees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 901 Call Centre<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Brig. Al Maasem reaffirmed\nthat ensuring public safety is a shared responsibility between the Dubai Police\nand community members. <\/p>\n\n\n\n “Dial 901 or use ‘Police Eye’ service\nvia Dubai Police smart App to report any suspicious, shady and illegal\nactivities, including these unlicensed centres and their promotors,” he\nurged. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Brig.
