{"id":48474,"date":"2022-08-16T15:32:14","date_gmt":"2022-08-16T11:32:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.uaebarq.ae\/en\/?p=48474"},"modified":"2022-08-16T15:32:16","modified_gmt":"2022-08-16T11:32:16","slug":"two-died-11-injured-in-separate-traffic-accidents-in-dubai-over-the-weekend","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.uaebarq.ae\/en\/2022\/08\/16\/two-died-11-injured-in-separate-traffic-accidents-in-dubai-over-the-weekend\/","title":{"rendered":"Two died, 11 injured in Separate Traffic Accidents in Dubai Over the Weekend"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Two people\ndied, and 14 others were injured in separate traffic accidents over the last\nweekend, the acting director of the Dubai Traffic Police has revealed.&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Colonel Jumaa\nSalem bin Suwaidan, Acting Director of the General Directorate of Traffic at\nDubai Police, said the accidents could have been avoided should the motorists\nabided by traffic laws and regulations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Col. bin\nSuwaidan explained that the first accident occurred last Friday on Emirates\nRoad over the Dubai Club Bridge Sharjah-bound when a lorry driver suddenly\nswerved off the lane and lost control, causing the lorry to flip over in the\nmiddle of the road. He added that two individuals sustained minor and mild\ninjuries in the accident. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Col. bin\nSuwaidan pointed out that the second accident happened last Saturday between a\nmotorcycle and a light vehicle on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road near Dubai-Al\nAin Bridge Abu Dhabi-bound. He confirmed the accident, which left the\nmotorcyclist mildly injured, was due to not maintaining a safe distance between\nvehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Col. bin\nSuwaidan added that the third accident occurred on the same day on Al Khail\nRoad Abu Dhabi-Bound near the Business Bay exit when a motorist dozed off and\nlost control of his vehicle before it filliped over in the middle of the road. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Col. bin\nSuwaidan said a pedestrian sustained serious injuries when he was run over by a\nmotorist who had suddenly swerved to the right of the road in a bid to avoid a\ncollision with another vehicle on Qumasha street in JVC. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Col. bin\nSuwaidan noted that in another accident that occurred last Saturday evening on\nSheikh Zayed Road, a woman sustained moderate injuries when her vehicle flipped\nover after she had made a sudden swerve. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The acting\ndirector of Dubai Traffic Police added that two people died and four others\nwere severely injured in a collision that occurred last Saturday between two\nvehicles on Al Ibdaa Street behind the Crowne Plaza Hotel. He explained that\nthe accident happened when a driver did not check if the road was clear before\nmaking a U-Turn and thus rammed into another vehicle. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Col. bin\nSuwaidan said a severe collision also occurred between a lorry and a pickup\ntruck on Emirates Road before Al Faya Bridge, resulting in the injury of a\nperson. He pointed out that the accident occurred due to not leaving enough\ndistance between the vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The acting\ndirector of Dubai Traffic Police warned against excessive speeding, improper\novertaking, sudden swerving, and distracted driving.
