The UAE Government highlighted its commitment to achieving the sustainable development goals (SDG) and improving the lives of members of the community, as part of the country\u2019s approach to supporting global development efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During its meeting, the National Committee on Sustainable Development Goals approved the second edition of the UAE\u2019s National Voluntary Review Report, a special report prepared by various countries on their achievements and progress in achieving sustainable development goals by monitoring their most important and recent achievements, programmes and initiatives aimed at achieving the SDGs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State for International Cooperation and Chairperson of the Committee, said government authorities who are members of the committee aim to strengthen the country\u2019s efforts to achieve the sustainable development goals by highlighting related local and international efforts and initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She also talked about the UAE\u2019s international partnerships aimed at helping less fortunate countries, and providing food and medical aid to eliminate hunger and poverty, and ensure adequate health services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In his speech to the committee\u2019s members, Abdullah Nasser Lootah, Director-General of the Prime Minister’s Office at the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs and Deputy Chairman of the Committee, said the UAE, in line with its leadership\u2019s directives, will continue launching initiatives aimed at helping communities complete the sustainable development goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr. Mirza Hassan, Executive Director and Dean of the Board of Executive Directors of the World Bank Group, lauded the UAE\u2019s efforts to support the implementation of the sustainable development goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The UAE\u2019s efforts in the field of sustainability reflect its government\u2019s directives aimed at achieving the SDGs, through launching a range of relevant local and international initiatives,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hanan Mansour Ahli, Acting Director of the Federal Centre for Competitiveness and Statistics, said achieving the sustainable development goals is a human mission, aimed at supporting communities and improving people\u2019s lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The UAE has achieved significant successes in sustainable development, which has been recognised by major international organisations that monitor the country\u2019s performance in international competitiveness indexes, she added, noting that the UAE was ranked first globally in 97 indexes relating to sustainable development goals, and among the top ten countries in 268 other indexes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
