Apple will hold an event on September 12, expected to be the annual unveiling of its new iPhones.<\/p>\n

On Thursday the company invited journalists and analysts to an event at its California headquarters in two weeks\u2019 time.<\/p>\n

Apple is expected to unveil\u00a0three new iPhone models, as well as a new\u00a0Apple Watch\u00a0and upgraded iPad tablets.<\/p>\n

The new iPhones are all expected to follow the design of last year\u2019s iPhone X, but will come in three different sizes as well as different colours.<\/p>\n

Apple, which tightly guards its new products until they are announced, has a\u00a0history of cryptic invitations\u00a0that hint at what it will unveil, and which are closely scrutinised by followers of the company.<\/p>\n

T<\/span>his year\u2019s invitation features a gold ring in the shape of Apple\u2019s headquarters and the message \u201cGather round\u201d, believed to be references to Apple\u2019s donut-shaped headquarters. The gold colouring could be a nod to the colour options expected on the new smartphones.<\/p>\n

Apple will host the event at the Steve Jobs Theatre, the purpose-built auditorium in the grounds of its headquarters, at 10am Pacific Time, or 6pm in the UK.<\/p>\n

Apple typically starts selling its new iPhones the week after they unveiled, although reports have suggested that certain models could face production delays.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

I<\/span>t is unclear what Apple will call the new models. Last year it changed its typical numerical conventions by calling its high-end phone the iPhone X, and releasing an iPhone 8 the year after the iPhone 7, instead of following with an “S” model as usual.<\/p>\n

Apple, which recently became the world’s first company valued at more than one trillion dollars, relies on the iPhone for more than half of its revenues.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
