The Dubai Police maritime rescue patrols\nhave recently rescued a Spanish family after their yacht broke down due to a\ntechnical glitch near a rock breaker in Jumeirah.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The swift response to the family’s\nreport contributed to preventing the yacht from drifting and colliding into the\nrock breaker despite the strong sea currents and high waves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Colonel Dr Hassan Suhail Al\nSuwaidi, Director of Ports Police Station, the Command-and-Control Centre at\nDubai Police received a distress call from the Spanish family as their yacht\nbroke down at the sea. “The Station, which has across nine marine points\nacross in Dubai, immediately responded to the call and handled the situation with\nextreme finesse and professionalism”, he confirmed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Al Suwaidi explained that the rapid\nresponse of Dubai Police rescue teams contributed to saving the lives of the\nSpanish family by preventing their yacht from drifting uncontrollably towards\nthe rock breaker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lieutenant Colonel Ali Abdullah Al\nNaqbi, Head of the Maritime Rescue Department at the Ports Police Station, said\nthe maritime rescue patrols were immediately dispatched to the yacht coordinates\nwhich was being hit by the high wave and strong currents thus endangering the\nlives of the six-member family, including children, on board. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Al Naqbi said their top priority was to\nsecure the family whose yacht had broken down where currents might have caused it\nto drift and crash into a nearby rock breaker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOur teams helped the family transfer to a\nrescue boat and provided them with life jackets before they were transferred to\nsafety ashore,\u201d \u201cWe then towed the broken-down yacht out of the sea onto the\nport,\u201d he added. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, the Spanish family expressed\ntheir thanks to Dubai Police for the speedy action and rescuing them and\nmaintaining their safety. They pointed out that rescue teams reached their\nlocation in less than five minutes. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
