The Dubai Police has confiscated 1097\nvehicles for violating traffic laws such as heavily modifying cars with power\nboosters to increase the engine speed, and causing nuisance and disturbance to\nresidents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Brigadier Saif Muhair Al Mazroui,\nDirector of the General Department of Traffic Police, said the traffic\ncampaign, which they launched on 11 February in coordination with the Bur Dubai\nPolice Station, is aimed at ensuring road security and reducing the number of\ntraffic injuries and related deaths, as well as protecting properties and\nholding violators accountable for their reckless actions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Al Mazroui explained that it is very\nlikely that drivers lose control when driving heavily modified cars, especially\nif engine modifications were made in a way that does not match the type of\nvehicle or roads. He also indicated that modified vehicle accidents could be\ndeadly and result in the deaths of innocent people and other road users. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Al Mazroui also reminded that engine\nmodifications or changes to a vehicle\u2019s base or chassis without authorisation\nare subject to a Dh1,000 fine and 12 black points. In addition, the vehicle will also be\nimpounded for 30 days. \u201cThese penalties may be intensified depending on the\ncase,\u201d he confirmed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Brigadier Abdullah Khadim Sorour,\nDirector of Bur Dubai Police Station, said they the confiscated 994 vehicles on\nJumeirah St, 79 vehicles on Al Wasl St, 21 vehicles on 2nd<\/sup> of\nDecember St, and three vehicles on Zabeel St. He added that violators were from\nnine different nationalities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Brig.
