Ten people\nwere injured in a traffic accident when a bus driver dozed off and crashed into\na metal barrier causing the vehicle to flip over on Umm Suqeim Road in Dubai\nearlier this morning (on Thursday).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Brigadier Saif\nMuhair Al Mazrouei, Director of the General Department of Traffic Police,\nexplained that at around 6:00 AM this morning, the Command and Control Centre\nat Dubai Police received an emergency call reporting an accident involving a\n32-passenger bus on Umm Suqeim road after the Zayed bin Hamadan Al Nahyan\nroundabout towards Sheikh Zayed road. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cTraffic\npatrols and first responders were immediately dispatched to the accident site\nwhere they facilitated the arrival of the ambulance and other emergency teams\nand assisted the transfer of the severely injured to a hospital for necessary\ntreatment,\u201d Al Mazrouei said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Al Mazrouei\nsaid traffic investigators attributed the cause of the accident to the driver’s\nlack of sleep. \u201cThe driver dozed off and lost control of the bus and rammed\ninto a metal barrier on the right side of the road.\u201d \u201cThe collusion impact\ncaused the bus to skid back to the left side and flip over,” he continued.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The director\nof Dubai Traffic Police urged companies to communicate with their drivers and\nensure they understand the importance of having plenty of rest before\ntransporting workers or going on any journey. \u201cThe bus driver obviously hadn\u2019t\ngot adequate rest or sleep, so he nearly caused the death of many people,\u201d Al\nMazrouei explained. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
