{"id":15732,"date":"2019-12-26T07:28:44","date_gmt":"2019-12-26T03:28:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.uaebarq.ae\/en\/?p=15732"},"modified":"2019-12-26T07:55:44","modified_gmt":"2019-12-26T03:55:44","slug":"rare-solar-eclipse-in-uae-after-172-years-will-begin-at-7-35-21am","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.uaebarq.ae\/en\/2019\/12\/26\/rare-solar-eclipse-in-uae-after-172-years-will-begin-at-7-35-21am\/","title":{"rendered":"Live: Rare solar eclipse in UAE after 172 years"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A &#8216;ring of fire&#8217; is set to be visible over the UAE skies today, a spectacle that hasn&#8217;t occurred in the country since 1847.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event is called an annular solar eclipse and occurs when the moon covers majority of the sun, except its outer edges &#8211; creating a bright solar ring around the moon, often called a &#8216;ring of fire&#8217;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The rare astronomical phenomenon has returned to the UAE after 172 years and will only be visible from Abu Dhabi&#8217;s Liwa area for a brief two to three minutes on December 26.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The sun will be covered 91.93 per cent, which will create quite a stellar treat for observers.<br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>UAE timings to view the event<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>. Duration: 2 hours 21 minutes 32 seconds<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>. Duration of annularity: 2 minutes 47 seconds<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>. Sunrise: 7.01.39 am<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>. Full annular eclipse begins: 7.35.21am<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>. Maximum: 7.36.43am<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>. Full annular eclipse ends: 7.38.08am<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>. Partial ends: 8.52.34am<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Don&#8217;t watch with naked eyes<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>.  Watching the annular solar eclipse with naked eyes could damage the eyes and even cause blindness<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>.
