We want to be part of the solution. I take that responsibility seriously.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe&#8217;re building tools that will help the Instagram\u00a0community know more about the time they spend on Instagram \u2013 any time should be positive and intentional.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"m_first-letter m_first-letter--flagged\">T<\/span>he feature was unearthed by Jane Manchun Wong, a computer scientist known for discovering hidden features in an apps source code.\u00a0Wong&#8217;s find was first reported by TechCrunch, and later confirmed by Systrom.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1491\" src=\"http:\/\/www.uaebarq.ae\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Capture-15-293x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"293\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.uaebarq.ae\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Capture-15-293x300.jpg 293w, https:\/\/www.uaebarq.ae\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Capture-15.jpg 483w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 293px) 100vw, 293px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Wong found in Instagram&#8217;s file the feature named &#8220;time spent&#8221;, which\u00a0is presented on the app as a sidebar feature called &#8220;Usage insights.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div class=\"articleBodyText section\">\n<div class=\"article-body-text component  \">\n<div class=\"component-content\">\n<p><span class=\"m_first-letter m_first-letter--flagged\">T<\/span>his follows Google&#8217;s introduction of time management controls for Android, including a new dashboard that allows users to set how much time they want to spend on each app. When they use up their allotted time, the app will fade out on their smartphone screen.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"articleBodyText section\">\n<div class=\"article-body-text component  \">\n<div class=\"component-content\">\n<p><span class=\"m_first-letter m_first-letter--flagged\">A<\/span>pple has similarly promised better usage controls for children, which are expected to appear in a future version of its operating system.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>The Telegraph<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Instagram is developing a new feature to show users just how long they spend on the app, its chief executive has confirmed.
