Revathi Sanjana fell into a container full of water in her bathroom in Tamil Nadu on Tuesday, the same day authorities in the state announced another toddler had died in a well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The two-year-old’s parents rushed her to hospital after finding her body in the three-foot bucket, which she was reportedly trying to get water from.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is claimed her mum and dad were watching the doomed rescue attempt of two-year-old Sujith Wilson when their daughter fell into the water.
The girl was pronounced dead at hospital, The Sun reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sujith reportedly plunged 30ft down a hole on Friday, before slipping a further 70ft on Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The alarm was initially sounded after locals heard Sujith’s cries coming from the abandoned well, although the boy’s voice fell silent on Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rescue efforts were halted after a foul smell started emanating from the hole, with the Indian authorities later recovering the boy’s body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The youngster’s plight captured the attention of the world’s media, with major figures such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi weighing in on the situation.
He tweeted: “My prayers are with the young and brave Sujith Wilson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Spoke to CM @EPSTamilNadu regarding the rescue efforts underway to save Sujith. Every effort is being made to ensure that he is safe. @CMOTamilNadu .”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The rescue operation was held up by hard ground conditions around the well in Trichy, Tamil Nadu, ABC News reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Drills were used to dig down next to where the boy was trapped, however the machines struggled to break through rocks under the surface.
It was expected to take another 12 hours to rescue the toddler when it became clear he had died, NDTV reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
